Day 1: Ourense-San Cristovo de Cea. 22 km
We will start our Camino in the provincial capital, Ourense. It is worthwhile before starting our experience to dedicate a day to know the historic center of this city, its Roman bridges and its renowned hot springs, which we can enjoy at any time of the year. During this first stage we will follow the course of the river Miño, and we will find on the way several small villages such as Cudeiro or Tamallancos.
We will cross a historic stone bridge over the Barbantiño river in the village of Ponte Sobreira, before arriving at our destination San Cristovo de Cea, known for its tasty bread and its valuable ethnographic site.
Day 2: San Cristovo de Cea- Dozón. 19,5 km
Today we have a short and easy stage, which with a total of almost 20 km connects the towns of Cea and Dozón. Despite being a little longer, we recommend taking the variant that passes through the Monastery of Oseira, where if we have time we can visit its amazing interior. This monastic complex is a beautiful example of 12th century Cistercian architecture, considered the "Galician Escorial", this place has a great tradition of welcoming pilgrims.
After the visit we will go to Dozón, walking through a rural landscape in which we will find small villages such as Mirallos, Carballediña or A Gouxa, already in the province of Pontevedra.
Day 3: Dozón -Bendoiro. 20 km.
Once we have entered the Deza region, this stage will take us through places such as the Alto de San Domingos and its chapel, and several villages like Puxallos, Pontenoufe, A Xesta, Medelo, Mesón de Cuñarro or Botos. We will walk through slightly steep and sparsely vegetated land, dominated by meadows, where we can usually see livestock, mainly cattle. We will then descend along the course of the Dezón river.
Before reaching Bendoiro we will pass through the village of Donsión, where we will enjoy this charming location, presided by its baroque church. From here you can visit the capital of the region, Lalín, which is just over 5 km away.
Day 4: Bendoiro -Outeiro. 30 km
Today's stage, although quite long, will run along comfortable asphalt or dirt tracks. It has moderate but frequent slopes, except for the descent to the Ulla river valley and the subsequent ascent to Outeiro, the end of our route.
Before reaching this bucolic village we will pass through the parish of Dornelas and its church of San Martiño, and once inside the municipality of Vedra, we will see the 17th century fountain and chapel of Santiaguiño.
Day 5: Outeiro - Santiago de Compostela 16.7 km
After yesterday's tough day, today we will have the shortest stage, with just over 16 km, which will allow us to arrive early to our destination and enjoy this vibrant city. Today's route has moderate slopes, and we will cross forests and rural areas as we approach the Galician capital, where the landscape becomes progressively more urban.
Our day will end at the Cathedral of Santiago, in the Plaza del Obradoiro. We will end this trip with, no doubt, very good memories and the desire to repeat this unforgettable experience.
