Ribeira Sacra

The Ribeira Sacra in Galicia, between the south of the province of Lugo and the north of the province of Ourense, is a fairytale landscape, crossed by the rivers Miño and Sil on whose banks we will discover the terraces of vineyards where varieties of grape that will give some of the best Galician wines are grown . A humanized landscape, with a unique use of the land that transforms slopes of up to 70% in a succession of small terraces. The oenological resource together with the abundance of heritage, especially Romanesque churches and monasteries, and a spectacular landscape justify the candidacy of the area to World Heritage.

Day 1: Arrival to Ribeira Sacra. Check-in and time to relax, rest and enjoy the facilities and gastronomy of our magnificent accommodation. It will be our home for the next few days.

Day 2: In the morning we will sail along the Miño river between forests, vineyards and Romanesque churches, in private and unhurried, an idyllic start of the trip without a doubt. At noon you will have booked a table in a restaurant of reference, there you will discover the cuisine of the interior of Galicia, and you will be surprised with its flavors. In the afternoon we will discover the monumental heritage, churches hidden among forests, temples of great beauty around which life began to be organized in this territory. Here you will find the largest concentration of rural Romanesque in Spain. At the end of the day we will be surprised by the amount of sensations and places that we can find without having traveled more than a few kilometers. Return to the hotel and time to relax and rest.

Day 3: Today we will dedicate the morning to understand the viticulture of the area. Accompanied by an expert who will talk to you and show you his vineyards, he will explain the history of wine in the area, and the extreme difficulty of vine cultivation . Varieties that will surprise you, some of them recovered after having been in danger of extinction. Part of the experience will also be a commented tasting at the winery facilities, where we will have reserved a table for lunch before continuing to discover the Ribeira Sacra. We leave for the afternoon the visit to Gundivós, where we will meet Elías and his traditional pottery, the last example of this centenary tradition. If you still have strength left we can go to Monforte de Lemos and stroll through its historical area.

Day 4: Breakfast and farewell. We end our stay with the desire to return soon and discover new experiences. If you have some time left before our return trip, we will be happy to suggest any additional activities or visits.
